Biography

Currently member of the Board of National Bank of Romania, Cristian Popa has extensive professional experience of over 15 years in the financial industry. Previously, Cristian was the Chief Investment Officer of the largest private pension fund manager in Romania, being responsible for managing over 3,5 bln eur of assets. Cristian graduated the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and afterwards he achieved a Master’s degree in international financial risk management. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter by the CFA Institute in Virginia, USA, and is a member of the board of the CFA Society Romania. He was also awarded the Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA) charter and lectures for the Romanian Banking Institute.
