Biography

Kamala Gurbanova has worked at the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 1988. She held the position of Director of the Payment Systems and Settlements Department from 2005 until 2024 and has been Director of the Payment Services and Payment Systems Supervision and Policy Department since 2024. She is currently responsible for the oversight and development of payment systems, as well as the regulation and supervision of non-bank payment service providers. She has led many projects in the field of payments. She graduated from Azerbaijan State Economic University and the University of Wales (MBA). In 2012, she was awarded the “Progress Medal” for her services in improving the banking sector of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
