Biography
Mr. Nuzum is head of OCIO for Franklin Templeton and a member of Franklin Templeton’s Management Committee. He is responsible for leading the team which delivers customized advice on strategic asset allocation and other elements of investment policy, as well as ongoing discretionary implementation across multiple underlying investment strategies and asset classes. This includes leading Franklin Templeton’s manager research team. Prior to joining Franklin Templeton, Mr. Nuzum worked in a variety of leadership roles at Mercer, including serving as Global Chief Investment Officer for seven years, and leading the Investments & Retirement business as President and Global Business Leader for five years. During his career, Mr. Nuzum has provided investment advice and solutions to clients in more than 20 countries, including many of the world’s largest institutional investors. He has also led social security and other long-term savings reform projects in five countries and one US state. He has also helped lead several projects with the World Economic Forum, including work related to transformational investment, and to the longevity economy. He has lived and worked in Tokyo, Chicago, Singapore, and New York. Mr. Nuzum holds a bachelor of science (with honors) in mathematical sciences and mathematical economic analysis from Rice University. He also holds an MBA (with high honors) in analytic finance and accounting from the University of Chicago. He also did graduate work in international economics at Tokyo University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. Mr. Nuzum has repeatedly been named to CIO magazine’s annual list of the world’s most influential investment consultants and received CIO’s 2017 Industry Innovation Award as Consultant of the Year.
