Biography

Mr. Jasmin Mahmuzic is Director of the Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBA) as of March 2017, responsible for licensing, supervision and regulation of banks, microcredit organizations, leasing companies, and foreign exchange bureaus, in addition to anti-money laundering and counter- terrorism financing activities. As the FBA Director, Mr. Mahmuzic is a member of the Standing Committee for Financial Stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Banking Supervision Coordination Board of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Mahmuzic has had various prominent roles in the financial sector – banking industry and management for many years. A substantial part of his work was dedicated to international organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly the OHR and the OSCE Mission in BiH, along with several socially involved initiatives. In acknowledgment of his contribution to the financial sector, Mr. Mahmuzic was awarded the “Leadership Award 2023” by the Transatlantic Leadership Network in Washington, D.C., in appreciation of his efforts to sustain and improve the soundness of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s banking system. Academically, he is finalizing his PhD at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, focusing on the EU regulatory framework of the banking system and its impact on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s business cycle. Prior education includes an MBA degree from the University of Delaware and University of Sarajevo, Sarajevo Graduate School of Business, as well as further studies in Criminal Justice at the University of Dayton, where he was honored by both the Dayton Police Chief and the Mayor. In addition to his professional activities, he engages in international forums addressing the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of EU integration and regional cooperation. Mr. Mahmuzic is the author of numerous scientific and professional papers, a lecturer, an active participant, and a panelist at round tables and conferences.
