Biography

Agung Bayu Purwoko serves as the Director and Group Head for Data Strategy and Policy within the Data Innovation and Digitalization Department at Bank Indonesia. A pivotal figure in the central bank’s digital transformation, Agung spearheaded the institution's five-year strategic AI roadmap. He currently directs data governance strategies and oversees AI innovation designed to strengthen policy formulation and operational efficiency in the central bank. With nearly two decades of experience at Bank Indonesia, Agung has served in several key strategic roles. As Principal Economist, he played a central role in the development of the Indonesia Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2025. His background also includes serving as a Senior Economist in the Payment System Policy Department, a Senior Researcher in Macroprudential Policy Department, and staff to the Deputy Governor. Agung holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Indonesia and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Strategic Management at BINUS University.
